Biggest Loser Challenge #3

The Biggest Loser Contest had its last challenge. We meet at the Washington City Community Center and had a food challenge. Red Robin brought in some different types of food and as teams we had to figure out what we thought the calorie count was. There were 20 different questions that were asked of each team. It was a lot of fun and we all had a good time. Our team did not do that well in the challenge but we sure had fun. This is Whitnee and I. I look kinda creepy in this picture but it was the only one that I got with me in it besides the one that has the whole team in it. I guess that is what happens when you are behind the camera.
This is the team members that were at the challenge. We were missing a few people so not everyone was there. Anni our trainer was on a cruise so she missed out.

Little Hollywood

Geoff and his brother Sheldon along with some friends made a movie for the Little Hollywood competition. This is where they went to Kanab on Wednesday of that week were given a topic and two locations that they were allowed to film at. They were given 48 hours to make a movie and submitted it for judging. That Saturday they had a showing of the movies that were made and gave the results, Their movie "Noose" took first place. They were all pretty excited. This is everyone that took part in the making of the movie with the trophy that they won. There were also some other prizes that they won but I don't know exactly what they were.  Sheldon and Shaun were so excited about winning.

Spectrum 10k

This weekend I ran in my second ever 10k. I was very unsure going into the race. I know that I am capable of running. But when there are a bunch of people that are going to be there that you know it just makes it really stressful for me. My crossfit family, well a bunch of them decided to run this race. Geoff and I had already signed up for it so it was an added bonus. I will add some pictures as soon as I have them. The only team photo that we got I have my eyes closed in. Sad day but that is how it goes.
It was also nice because Michelle got to run too. I love that she has started running with me. She really pushes me to do my best. I finished the race in 1:12:10. My goal was 1:12 so I finished just a couple seconds slower than I wanted to. But I did finish and I averaged 12 minute miles.  I am hoping to be able to increase my speed over time to do 10 minute miles. That is my goal for the marathon. To be running that fast for the whole race. It is a lot of hard work but I love it!

Hustle

Do you ever feel like you get wrapped up in life and that you are missing the bigger picture? That is how life seems to be going. Yesterday I ran into a friend who told me to set so goal for my future. Apparently the fact that I have nothing planned for my life other then paying off my school loans did not sit well. After this conversation I got home and really started thinking about what I want to do with my life. What is my big picture?

I have a few goals for this year but other than that I have not really thought about what I want to do when I grow up. I have decided that it is time to take into consideration not just the rest of the year but my future.  While I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up I will let you in on my goals for this year. I guess this is kinda like my New Years Resolutions only I am doing mine in the middle of March. Maybe this will make them easier to stick with.

1. Compete in one Race each month. ( so far so good)
2. Compete in the Spartan Race ( if you dont know what this is, look it up. It is intense)
3. Lose another 25 pounds ( I am hoping with all the training I am doing this will just happen)
4. Get pregnant.
5. Run the marathon.

I know that my list is not long and that all of these goals are achievable. That is why I have made such a short list. I feel that if I don't set to many goals I will be able to accomplish all of them. I will have to post some pictures from my previous races this year. I think that i will do a flash back day once a week until I am caught up.  Plus it is nice to look back and see all of the things that I have accomplished.  So that if I do get down on myself I can see what I have already done and know that I can do more if I set my mind to it.

Biggest Loser Challenge #2

For the biggest loser we had different challenges. One of them was an obstacle course. The had all of the team captains come forward and draw out a number to see which teams when in what order. Of course I drew number 1. It was so hard having to go first because we didn't really know what was going on and we just had to kind of wing it. But after it was all said and done I was glad that we went first because some people were having to do it in the dark. Because most of the course was outside they didn't get the advantage that we did having it be light outside.
The first part of the course was the scooters. One person had to sit down on a scooter and another had to push them through the cones. When they got to the other side they switched places and came back in opposite positions. A couple of our team mates had to go twice because others could not do it. It was pretty crazy sitting on this little scooter cruising along the blacktop. Bobbi is pushing me and then I am pushing her back.
The next part of the course was the tire carry. There were two different ways that you could do this. You could put the tire up over your shoulder and run with it that way or you could flip it end over end. You could not roll it. I ended up having a bruise on my shoulder after and it was very tender. I also wore some shorts that I have not worn for a long time and I was glad that I had on spandex under them because the shorts kept falling off and people would have been able to see everything. I would have been so embarrassed if my bare hiney was hanging out.
The next part of the course was a 3 legged race. This is me and Bobbi again. We had to tie a nylon around our ankles and then run a distance. I ended up doing this again with Josh. It was a lot easier with Bobbi because we were about the same height. We got in a rhythm and then just went for it.
Then we had to jump up and over different steps that were set at different heights. It was like a box jump. After that we had to do the boccee balls where one person would take it and set it down and then stand on the ball and then another person would hand one over to them and they would set that one down and then more to it and the second person would move onto the first ball and so on and so forth until all 10 of us were standing on the balls. It was so hard and my legs were shaking so bad. If you fell off the balls your team would get docked points. It was so hard to do. I am holding a bocee ball in my hands in the photo below just in case you were wondering what it is.
The next step was for everyone to line up and toss different weighted balls down a line to the other side. If a ball got dropped it had to go back to the beginning of the line and start over. Once all the balls got to one end they had to go back the way that they came one at a time. Unfortunately I was one of the people on my team that dropped the ball. I was disappointed in it but what can you do. It was a 12 pound ball that was about the size of a soccer ball.

We then ran over to the pavilion where we hoped up and over the planters and proceeded to remove our clothing. Now don't be thinking dirty thoughts we were all wearing our bathing suits underneath. Not our birthday suits. We then were hosed off by one of the trainers and the water was freezing. Like take your breath away cold. That was no fun at all.
We had to jump in the pool and make our way across to the other side. You could get there anyway that worked for you. I waited for Patty and we ran across the pool together. When you got to the other side you had to jump out and head up the stairs to the water slide. For those of you who have not been to the Washington City Community Center it is like 3 flights of stairs to get to the top. I was so tired by the time that I just wanted to be finished. In order to finish you have to go down the slide and then make your way over to the stairs. When your whole team is on the stairs then the timer stops. As I was coming out of the slide I swear that my feet came up over my head. I have never been down this slide and it was crazy.
This is me after the race. It is good to know that I was still smiling when I was finished. The Pink Panthers finished the whole course in 16 minutes and like 5 seconds. We took 6th place out of 10 teams. I was so proud of my team. They all did amazing and it was a lot of fun.
Tia came to see me and a couple of her other friends and brought Brooklyn and Addison. We got to play in the pool afterwords and it was a lot of fun. Brooklyn was scared of when the water dropped so she would not go up to go down the slides on her own. I took her up there and we got splashed on so bad. She was freaking out. But we went down the slide and she was better. She then wanted to go down the slide over and over again. Man was I ready to be done way before she was!

The past is the past.

Over the last couple of months I have been struggling with weight loss. I have been eating better, not great but better and I have been working out almost every single day. And yet I have managed to lose a very little amount of weight. I have become frustrated and down because it seems like no matter what I do I never seem to make any improvements.

Yesterday I was talking with a good friend and she asked my five questions and told me to answer them truthfully. While thinking about how I would answer them in a way that would be honest and not dive into a very dark and hurtful place in my memories I realized that the only was to be honest was to tell the whole story. It was very hard for me to admit to her why I did not want to answer the questions honestly.  This place that she was asking me to go was locked up in my memories and had not been shared often.  Let me tell you, I am still not comfortable telling people about it but telling Jen was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. It is amazing what good friends can do for you.

I am taking her advice on ways to let go of the anger I feel towards others. I believe that most of that anger is felt towards myself. For letting me do the things that I have done in my past. I realize that it is over and done with and I would not be the person I am today if I had not taken that road that lead me wrong. I know that I am happy where I stand in my life. I just need to learn to not be worried about what other people say about me. I feel like I am always trying to make people like me and I realize that if I like me than others will also. And if they dont it is their lose for not getting to know me.

So here is to day one of letting the past be the past. I am hoping to be able to work through all of the bad memories that are tying me down and one day be able to look back at my past and know that it has made me a better person.  Thank you Jen for all of your words of wisdom! They have already made me see a difference in myself.

I am putting the past behind me and only looking to the future, and from where I am sitting now it looks very bright!

Biggest Loser

The radio station Planet 94.1 was advertising about a Biggest Loser contest that they were going to host with the Washington City Community Center. When I heard about it I decided it was something that I had to be a part of. I know that I have tried to do many workouts and different diets to lose weight but I just seem to gain it all back. I decided that I was going to try and do this to the best of my ability and see what I could accomplish.
The big day came when they were holding the auditions. It was based on a first come first serve type thing. They only let in 100 people. There are 10 teams of 10 people and we all have a trainer. It is pretty fun. I am on the Pink team and I got made the team captain. I was not sure that I would be a good captain but it has been good to help keep me motivated. My team picked the name the Pink Panthers and we are really having a good time working out together and getting to know each other better.
I am so happy that I decided to do this. I have lost some weight and learned a lot of things about losing weight and eating healthy. It really is a fun experience and I am glad that I decided to do it.  Each week we have a seminar that we attend or a challenge that the teams do against each other.  Then we have a weigh in with our trainer on Monday mornings. I really am liking this and I will update on all the fun things that we have been doing!
